I'd like to propose a system which in my opinion would allow for a better way to send Suggestions & Feedbacks aswell as getting a better communication about whether they are being worked on or not.
Here's what I propose that could be done :
Instead of using the forum as a suggestion & feedback platform, why not having a dedicated platform on the portal ?
With the migration of Donations & Changelogs, it would make it an ideal candidate to actually have a proper feedback system done aswell.
My vision of the system could be described as follow :
Classification :
First of all, suggestions and bug reports would be separated into 2 categories in order to have a better readability on both topics.
No more suggestions & bug reports would be mixed into one big category.
Bug Reports :
These bug reports would have overall 4 states : Sent ; Acknowledged ; Fixed ; Invalid ( and reason ).
Like a forum thread, the bug report would of course have a title and description and a comment section for people to add on ( e.g more details / conditions to recreate ). These bugs could also have an additional category to specify on what the bug impacts ( in such a way that we could easily filter what bugs are impacting on what for better clearance. )
Suggestions :
Suggestions would act almost the same as bug reports aside from the fact that people could generally vote for said suggestions, such as we could get more popular suggestions on the front page.
Of course in an ideal world, the more popular suggestions would be the ones done in priority but let's remind ourselves that Person is doing that as a hobby so it might not represent person's actual choice in the first suggestions being worked on.
Same as bug reports, these suggestions could have states such as : Sent ; Acknowledged ; WIP ; Added ; Invalid ( and reason ) and would have categories in which we could classify them in order to better filter what kind of suggestion it is ( either being additional content, improvement, yet another warp drive, etc.. )
Conclusion:
Overall I do realise that this is a lot of work and that if person was to agree that such a system could be worth using, it will not come until some time.
I'm also thinking of ways to improve this current idea in order to make it as ergonomic and self-maintained as possible.
I just think that having a dedicated platform for feedbacks & suggestions isn't a bad idea considering it's the reason for 1/4th of all posts on this forum !
