Hello everyone, over the last few days myself and a few others have concluded that tscm is far too Star Trek orientated. Battlestar Galactica has limited support with the addition of the FTL Drive. We love that BSG is becoming prominent on the server however we’ve developed a few ideas to help incorporate it further as well as a general low-tech form of science-fiction (while maintaining a tscm style of operation).
1) Flak Fields, as I have stated in another post these “turrets” will attempt to track and destroy incoming projectiles (Torpedoes & Missiles). These weapons should function similar to the pulsar emitters in you are limited to a certain amount (in addition to your original weapons limit). The weapons should be used through the ship core in the same way the pulsar emitters are.
2) Hull Armour, shielding is a priority on the server however I don’t think Star Trek style shields should be the only option. A type of hull armour should be implemented to supplement shields and absorb damage, if you’re concerned about transporters being able to beam to you now you have no energy shields I also believe in a sort of Jamming Device however, this version should be frequency based. Those who possess the frequency will be able to beam through.
3) Nuclear Weapons, obviously we can’t have nuclear weapons on the scale of some existing addons but perhaps something like the Tricobalt weapons but a kinetic variant. Similarly, I think a kinetic torpedo launcher type weapon would be nice, that is configurable to types of missile it fires (Nuclear, Standard, etc). or even update the SAM launcher to have this feature.
4) Railguns, you can’t expect everyone to use the Low-Tech variants so we should have something to work against shielding which is appropriately themed. A railgun or a simple form of laser turret which fires short blasts and not sustained beams.
5) Fighter Support, since the recent addition of the Drive Core I think fighter weapons are a brilliant idea. Weapons which can only fire directly ahead (like the Jaffa Cannons), these might include kinetic and energy variants.
6) Transporters, I had an idea to include a more generalised form of teleports to the selection, a more generic beaming effect (more low-tech feeling). Due to the realistic/low-tech nature of these new items it should reflect this and have a short range. (Limited to the same galaxy).
7) Energy, this has been discussed before, so I’ll keep it brief. A reactor type system and batteries which will make energy transferring easier.
Obviously I understand things are difficult and take time to implement but I thought I'd recommend these items for your viewing.
I'd support this idea, it'd be dope to see some stuff that'll fit in with ships that aren't supposed to look or feel super high-tech if that's the right word.

I think he means some kind of hull armor that can take place of a shield. Yes there already is hull plating, but it's nothing if you were to have no shield. If we wanted to include more low tech items, there should be some kind of hull that can be equivalent to a shield
I will also like to see, more realism with all the FTL, Hyperdrive etc...
-All entities (Warp Drives) used to move our spaceships should consume energy, depend on the size of the vessel, and depend of the Warp drive used.
For example, the FTL or the Spore Drive are much faster than other warpdrives, so one jump should consume consume alot of energy proportionnal to the ship size / ship ressource storage size --> If you have 5M storage on your ship, it mean that you have a massive ship, so move it should consume like (random numbers to illustrate) 300 000 of Energy.
On the contrary, with a small vessel (Let's say 100,000 storage) this should consume only 5,000.
Some warpdrives are much slower than that, so they should consume much less energy (But if you change the speed of the Warpdrive with the input made for that, it should consume more aswell.)
It's a bit loose, but I think the idea is easily understandable ^^
