So I've been thinking about the shields systems, I wondered if we could have a close to hull shield effect like the plating does but a large scale and with out the sparking effect? Perhaps add this setting to the Starship Shields so something.

because plating is only an effect on the ship itself, a hulltight shield would need to be contoured to the ship itself which would be very hard on/for the source engine (a dynamically contouring entity, seeing as the shields are just resized shield props and you'd need multiple to get a contoured shield)

tbh the only thing that could feasibly allow this to happen WITHOUT or atleast with a decreased amount of calculations, would be manually player specified points on the ship's hull, then have the shield just form itself between those point, with the gap inbetween each point acting as a shield face or something.
